Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao yesterday congratulated his new Japanese counterpart Yukio Hatoyama, indicating the wish to develop relations between their nations "from a new historic threshold", state media reported.
"As each other's important neighbour, efforts to deepen the mutual trust and cooperation between China and Japan are in keeping with the fundamental interests of both nations and their peoples," Wen said in his message to Hatoyama, quoted by Xinhua news agency.
